ADDINGTON VALUES STORE SHEEP ADVANCE RISE IN CATTLE RATES (IVr Pross .Assorts!! inn.) CHRISTCHURCH, tins day. The improved prices of last week were well maintained, with an occasional hardening of prices, at the Addington stock sale yesterday. The better tone apparent in the store sheep market during the last few sales was continued yesterday, the demand, particularly for wethers, being the best for some time. A truck-lot of four, six and eight-tooth halfbred ewes made 10s 4d. A small lot of five-year threequarter-bred ewes made 13s 3d, and a small line of two-tooth wethers 13s (id. The best lamb in a small fat lamb section sold at 7d to 7Ad per Lb. Light lambs had a dull sale, with little change in values. About 5500 fat sheep were again entered. The sale began firmly, wethers showing an advance of Is a head and upwards in the earlier part to a full 2s a head in the latter half of the market. Better class ewes also sold a little better. Extra prime heavy wethers made to 39s Id, prime heavy 27s to 365. prime medium 24s to 265, light to 19s: extra prime heavy -•wcs to 27s lOd. prime heavy 22s to 245. prime medium 17s to 21s. light to 15s.

Season’s Best Quality

The fat cattle sale was the best of the season for prime quality. Several pens of good cows and heifers also made higher prices than for some time. Medium cattle showed little change on last week. Extra prime heavy steers made to £lB 7s Gd, prime heavy £l4 15s to £l6 ss. prime'medium "13 to £l4 Ift -v l'ght io £10: extra jo rime heifers to £l2 7s Gd, prime £lO 10s to £ll 10s, medium £8 to £9 15s. light to £7 ss; extra prime cows to £l3 7s Gd. prime £8 10s to £lO ss. medium £G 10s to £7 15s, light to £6 ss.

Although there was a larger entry of porkers, the sale was good, prices from the outset being a shade dearer than last week. Batter values were maintained until the last race, when a relapse of 3s to 4s a head occurred. Choppers were in' medium supply and the sale was satisfactory. Baconers came forward in smaller numbers and prices showed little change. Porkers made 37s Gd to 59s Gel. the average price being GJd to 7.1 d per lb., and baconers made 59s Gd to £5 ss, the average price being 61d to 7d per lb.
