BADMINTON
PUHA PLAYERS SUPERIOR MATCH WITH WAIKOHU (Herald Correspondent.) On Monday evening a return match between the Puha and Waikohu badminton clubs was played in the Waikohu Hall, Te Karaka. Puha players proved superior, winning seven games out of 12. Honours were even in the mixed doubles, but the visiting team scored decisively in the ladies’ doubles. Details of the games were as follows, Waikohu club players being mentioned first in each instance! — 'Mixed Doubles. —E. Ruru and Miss J. Marshall lost to Misses Josephine and Juliet Scott, 10—21; J. Holdsworth and Miss L. Ruru lost to T. Tombleson and Miss N. Coates, 9—21; E. Cranswick and Miss J. Kyne lost to E. Newton and Miss G. Adams, 21—23; A. Manuel and Miss V. Seamons defeated J. Cunningham and Miss M. Graham, 21—16; P. Reynolds and Mrs. H. O’Connell defeated R. Coates and Peter Tape, 2.1—8; D. Reynolds and Miss J. Cotteriil defeated R. Richmond and T. Maclean, 21 —8. Ladies’ Doubles. —Misses J. Marshall and L. Ruru lost to M:ss Josephine Scott and T. Maclean. 11—21; Mrs. H. O’Connell and Miss V. Seamons lost to Misses G. Adams and M. Graham, 8 —21; Misses J. Kyne and J. CottenU lost to Miss N. Coates and Peter Tape, 12—21. Men’s Doubles. —E. Ruru and E. Cranswick lost to T. Tombleson Miss Juliet Scott, 6-21; J. Holdsworth and P Reynolds defeated J. Cunningham and E. Newton, 21-14; A. Manuel and D. Reynolds defeated R. Richmond and R. Coates, 21 4. The Waikohu Badminton Club will have its club night on Thursday this week.
