To-day's Low “Glass”
The barometic level in Gisborne reached an exceptionally low pOmt this afternoon and there was no indication that the bottom had been reached at 3 o’clock. At 9 a.rn. today the reading was 980.1 miilibars and at 3 p.m. the level had dropped to 976.5 millibars, or 28.34 in. A reading of 1010 millibars is regarded as an average "glass” and 1000 millibars is a low pressure, while anything below 990 miilibars is very low.
