CENTENNIAL GRANTS

TOTAL OF £4OOO VOTED AUCKLAND POWER HOARD £IOOO FOR MEMORIAL PARK (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. A gift of £IOOO toward the cost of the Auckland Centennial Memorial Park in the Waitakere Ranges, a free supply of £BOO worth of power and maintenance for the city’s centennial illuminations, and a decision to limit its contributions for all centennial purposes to £4OOO, were unanimously approved ,by the Auckland ElectricPower Board yesterday.

The chairman, Mr. S. J. Hanbutt, said the sum of £4OOO would be reached by the expenditure so far decided upon by the 'board.lt had already been decided to .give £IOOO toward the cost of the Auckland court at the New Zealand Centennial Exhibition at Wellington, and to spend £6OO on a combined electrical display at the Exhibition. To these two contributions were now to be added the £IOOO gift to the Auckland memorial and £BOO worth of power and maintenance for the illuminations, the £450 the board intended to spend on its own account for the illumination of its own buildings arid £l5O which the board's float in the centennial pageant would cost.
