Warrington—Johnston Bride From Makauri A very pretty wedding was solemnised in St, Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Cobden street, on Wednesday evening, when Eleanor Mary Fraser, youngest daughter of 'Mr. and Mrs. D. Johnston, Makauri, was married to Trevor Lyons, eldest son of Mrs. Warrington and the late Mr. A. L. Warrington, Waerenga-a-hika. The Rev. F. A. 'Thompson officiated at the ceremony, and Mr. I. Moore presided at the organ. Cream roses, pink carnations and blue irises were artistically blended in the decoration of the church, and posies of similar -blooms were attached to the ends of the pews in which the guests were seated. The bride, who was escorted iby her father, looked charming in. a frock of ivory silk net mounted oil matching satin. The bodice, shirred on the shoulders and fastened down the back with tiny buttons and loops, showed a V-sliaped neckline and short puiT sleeves embroidered in a floral design in sequins, the motif being repeated'on the front of the corsage. A graduated band of finely pin-tucked satin, terminating in a point in front, defined the waist, and the gracefully flared skirt swept into a long oval train ornamented with clusters of flowers embroidered in sequins. Her exquisite veil of embroidered tulle was caught with a coronet -of orange blossom, and elbow-length gloves and ivory satin sandals were worn, a bouquet of cream roses and carnations, intermingled with delicate greenery, completing the ensemble.
Bridesmaid’s Attractive Frock The bride was attended by Miss Beryl Warrington, sister of the bridegroom, wearing an attractive frock of pastel blue sheer over matching satin, designed with a finely-gauged inset in the front of the bodice and a bolero with short puff sleeves accented with gold embroideries. A halo of blue tiger lilies, relieved with touches of gold, made a becoming headdress, and gold shoes were worn with stockings to tone. A bouquet of blue irises, pink carnations and camellias, intermingled with asparagus fern, was carried. The little flower girl. Myrtle SoloniKui, niece cl the bride, was a dainty figure in a -pastel pink miniature replica of the elder ’maid’s frock. She wore a bandeau of ‘blue tiger lilies touched with gold, and carried a basket of pink sweet peas and carnations.
The duties of best man were carried out 'by Mr. Douglas Millier.
After the ceremony a very enjoyable reception, followed by a dance, was held at the 'Bon Accord.
The snipper tables were artistically decorated with slender vases of roses, carnations and irises in cream, pink and 'blue' tonings, carrying out the colours of the bridal party.
Tiic customary toasts were honoured and the handsome ivory three-tier wedding cake was cut and dispensed by the bride. The bride travelled in a smartly tailored suit in brown and fawn tonings. a glade green smocked blouse, and a green felt hat and brown accessories.
‘Mrs. Johnston, mother of the bride, wore an elegant model gown of navy blue triple georgette and a matching hat and coat, a posy of carnations and daphne completing her toilette. Mrs. Warrington, mother of the bridegroom, was wearing a smart frock of London tan georgette and a hat to match. Her posy was composed of carnations and daphne. Mrs. Solomann, sister of the bride, chose a icream frock printed in a floral design and a hat to tone.
Miss E. Warrington, sister of the bridegroom, was froeked in clover taffeta with gold accords. The 'bride and bridegroom, Who were the recipients of a number of handsome wedding gifts, will make their future home in Opotiki.
Victoria League Meets Yesterday afternoon, Miss A. L. Rees presided over a large attendance of members at the monthly meeting of the Poverty Bay Victoria League, 'held in the Bon Accord tearooms.
Four new members, Mesdames Bloomfield, Murray Mills, O. So Ivander and Miss Wct'hered were elected. It was decided to form an entertainment 'committee with the object of ent'eiltainiing league visitors to Gisborne, and! the secretary was instructed’ to write to each Victoria League in the Dominion i.n regard to the matter.
A letter was read from Messrs. PeUties, Limited, inviting members to attend a meeting in Le Grand Cafe on July 7, when Madame Stella Rubenstein will give an address on matters- of feminine interest.
A letter acknowledging a donation from the league was received from the Poverty Bay Centennial Committee.
An appeal from the Plunkel Society in connection with the Sir Trilby King memorial fund was put to the meeting, and it was agreed to make a donation of £3 3s. A satisfactory financial statement was presented by the treasurer', Mrs. T. Y- Cuthbert, and the secretary of the book and magazine committee reported, the dispatch of 751 b. of Literature to settlers in the back country.
The "proposal brought forward by Mrs. E. Trowel! that the next meeting of the league should take the form of -a toy afternoon to provide Christmas gifts for the little inmates of the Heni Materoa Children's Home and patients in the Cook Hospital, was adopted. It was decided to hold all future meetings in the Boh Accord tearooms. Subsequent to afternoon tea a most instructive Talk on life in America was giveni by Mrs. A. M. Reynolds. 8.E., of Boston University, Boston. Mass. A warm vote of thanks was passed to the speaker.
