ADDRESS-IN-REPLY PLAN LAND EROSION BILL (Pai-lianmiitHiy Roportnr.) WELLINGTON, this day. The Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage, was able to return to duty to-day at Cabinet meetings arranged for the morning and afternoon.

With, the Ad'dress-in-Reply debate commencing on Tuesday evening the House will fairly launch the session. Mr. R. M. MacFarlane (Lab., Christchurch South), the mover, and Mr. C. W. Boswell (Lab., Bay of Islands), the seconder, have been selected as the new members representing the South and North Islands respectively. They will get an appreciative hearing always accorded maiden Parliamentary efforts.

The .controversy will commence with the speech of the Opposition Leader, the Hon. Adam Hamilton, on Wednesday afternoon. A no-confidence motion is l sure to be moved regardless of the result. The Cabinet’s task meanwhile is the final approval of legislation. An interesting bill of which the Minister of Public Works, the Hon. R. Semple, has charge, deals with the land erosion problem which requires special organisation, with powers covering complete areas of watersheds from the hilltops to the sea.
