CHINESE MERCHANTS TOLD TO QUIT TIENTSIN MAY BE COMMON GRAVE WENCHOW PORT CLOSED (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reed. July 3, 2.50 p.m.) ' LONDON, July 2. The Shanghai correspondent of The Times says that the Japanese have issued a formal warning that Chinese merchants must leave Tientsin, which otherwise will 'be their common grave. Seamen met under the auspices of the supreme anti-British committee and demanded the recognition of the union, double pay and the surrender of the concession.
The Japanese landed to-day at Shaocheng. The populace is fleeing to the country. Wehchow harbour is closed.
