HYPERCRITICAL VIEWS OTHER NATION’S IDEALS (Per Press Association.) HAMILTON, this day. An appeal to Christians noit to be critical of iche standards and ideals of others, was made by Archbishop A. W. Averill, Primate of New Zealand, in a sermon in St. Peter’s Cathedral, Hamilton. . The service marked the opening ot the Waikato diocesan synod. “Before we condemn the rise of totalitarianism, whether communistic or Fascist, before we seek to remove the mote friom the eye of other rnfticMis, ought wo jvot to con'Sidcr whether we have- “sold the pass’ _ to the enemies cif C'hrist by not claiming and demanding totalitarian rights for him,” said Archbishop AverilJ. ‘We have n>o right 'to criticise others until wo are as sure as we can be that our ideals, standards and conduct are consifitenb with our own religious profession.” The church had a great opportunity to-day, Hie Archbishop continued. There was a definite call to Christendom to close its ranks and to manifest something of the boldness which once caused the enemies of Christ's Apostles to marvel at, those who had been with Jesus. ,
