BERLIN, May 15. Germans drank 23.900,000 bottles of German champagne-type wine last year, 20 per cent more than in 1937 despite Nazi stress on teetotalism as practised by Chancellor Hitler. The year the Nazis came to power—l 93 only 5,500,000 bottles were sold. It costs 4.50 marks, or about 5s Bd, a bottle at the official exchange rate. French champagne prices are prohibitive for all but the wealthy.
