SHEEP DOG TRIALS
RtERE CLUB FIXTURE RECORD ENTRIES HIGH STANDARD OF WORK A record number of entries was received- for the Rere Sheep Dog 1 Trial Club’s annual field .meeting, which concluded at Taumata station during the week-end. Showery weather was experienced during the meeting, which was originally set down as a three-day fixture, but owing to the-large number of entries in the three classes the trials were carried well on into the fourth day. Public interest in the events was well maintained to the close. Mr. F. B. Calcott, Tolaga Bay, who judged the heading trials, commented most favourably on the work shown by the competitors, which was much improved on that of former years. The judge stated, too, that the work of the dogs was of a very high standard, resulting in close competition. Oi the 57 dogs in the Long Head only one failed to lift his sheep. The huntaway events were judged by Mr. W. Hall, Matawhcro, who said that -a pleasing feature of the trials was tne large number of entries. The placed dogs in the three events were:—
