MARRED BY RAIN

BASKETBALLERS’ TRIP VISIT TO OPOTIKI Tlie visit of the Poverty Bay Basketball representative B team to Opotiki on Saturday was marred by wet weather and the two games played on the Opotiki courts in the afternoon both took place in the rain. In view of the unfavourable conditions, play was not of a high standard, and, in fact, the Poverty Bay side did not produce the good form expected of it. The first match was a representative fixture in which Opotiki defeated Poverty Bay B by 10 goals to eight. The Opotiki Old Girls’ Club, whose representatives visited Gisborne last season, matched a team against the tourists and this game was won by Poverty Bay B by 10 goals to four. The Poverty Bay team returned home during the week-end.
