COOK COUNTY COUNCIL. NOTICE OP INTENTION TO MAKE A GENERAL RATE. PURSUANT to Section 120 of “The Counties Act, 1920,”' and Section 2 of -The Counties Amendment Act, 1931," and Sections 51/59 of “The Rating Act, 1925,” and Amendments thereto, NOTICE is hereby given that the Cook County Council will at a meeting to be held on Monday, 17th July. 1939, in the Council Chambers, Childers Road, Gisborne, N.Z., make, and levy, a General Rate of 4?d (fourpence and seven-eights of one penny) in the £l, over the whole of the rateable properties in the County of Cook, on the Unimproved Rateable value of the County. This rate is to cover administration, interest, and other charges on Loans over the whole County, Hospital Levy, General Maintenance of Roads and Bridges, and the Council’s proportion of cost of Subsidised Works. On the same date and at the same place the Council, in terms of Section 123 of “The Counties Act, 1920,” will make and levy a Sanitation Rate by way of a uniform charge of £2/12/per annum, upon such properties as have dwellings thereon, within the Whataupoko, Kaiti, AVainui Sanitary Areas of the County of Cook. On the same date and at the same place the Council will, in terms of Section 157, Sub-section (2), of “The Counties Act, 1920,” make and levy a Drainage Rate of 2ths of Id. in the £1 over the properties in the Maraetalia and Te Kuri Drainage District, and a Drainage Rate of »ths of Id. in the £1 over the properties in the Homebush Drainage District: Further rates j on the classified basis, equivalent tor 3d. in the £1 on the Capital Value of the properties in the Taurau Valley Special Drainage District; and the Lavenham Special Drainage District. Each of the above-mentioned Rates, is for the period commencing on the Ist day of April, 1939, and.ending on the 31st day of March, 1940, and is due and payable at the Office of the County, Childers Road, Gisborne, on the 31st day of July, 1939. Annual recurring.. Special Rates will also appear on the *Rate Demands. A rebate of 32 per qentum will be allowed on all General Rates for the year 1939/40 paid and received in the Office of the County within 30 days of the date of the demand; 10% additional rate will be added to all rates for the year 1939/40 which are outstanding and unpaid after the expiration of 0 months and 14 days from the date of the demand. The Valuation Rolls and Rate Book of the County have been prepared and are open for inspection, without fee, by all Ratepayers, during ordinary office hours.
