THIRD GRADE PLAY FOURTHS AND FIFTHS EVEN Old Boys Bpts. H. 5.0.8 G The rapidly-improving Old Boys’ team had a close call in their thirdgrade game with H. 5.0.8. in Gisborne on Saturday, the whites winning by 8 points to 0 after a fast and clean match, refereed by Mr. J. Lockwood. In the second game of the third grade series Marists, leaders in the competition, won by default from Celtic. Inter-School Game In an inter-school game between Marist High School and Te Karaka District High School the town team proved to be too strong, winning by 13 points to 5. For Marists, Martin (2) and Graham scored tries, the 'latter converting two, while for Te Karaka Duncan scored and Roe converted. The referee was Mr. W. 11. James. In a fourth-grade game Old Boys | beat Celtic by 11 points to C, Nossiter and Cox (2) scoring for the winners, Cox converting one, while for the Celts Jeffs kicked two penally goals. ■ The referee was Mr. Frank Bayliss. School Fifths Win High School B had a close call against Old Boys in a fifth grade ’ game, the final score being School G, ’ Old Boys 3. Mr. I. N. Charles was the referee.
