PERSONAL NOTES.

Mr William Ooss, of Christchurch, is amongst the visitors to Greymouth 1 at Ihe present time. Constable Bennett, of Hokitika, is at present in Kumara relieving Constable Ryan, who is away on a holiday.

Miss Hall, at present postmistress at Almura, has been appointed a lady cleric to the Runanga Co-operative Society. The following passengers left for Christohureh this morning: Mesdames Butcher, Martin, S. Coalsworth. Griffen; Misses Flvnn, .1. Coatswerth, Griffen. Denhard; Messrs 'l'm ton. S.M., and E. J. Roberts. Dr Neeley, a director of the Ross Goldfields Company, arrived from Christchurch last night, and subsequently proceeded on to llokitika and Ross, where he inspects the company's works. Mr .1. Morrissey, of To Kinga, has purchased the Te Kinga Hotel,which bad been leased by him and was owned by Mr T. Crowe, for the sum of £l,lOO. Mr Morrissey is to l>e congratulated on his pur- * chase.

Mr ,1. B. Ward, formerly accountant in the Hokitika branch of the Bank of New South Wales, has been re-appointed to his position there and has taken up his duties. He succeeds M rßrnce, who has been transferred. Included in those who retire from I lie Government service in consequence of the enforcement of the 65 years' limit are Mr It. Tennent (Inspector of Mines), Mr J. Snodgrass (District Surveyor, Wefltporfc), and Mr J. A. Montgomerie (District Surveyor, Reef ton). Dr Kinder, who was formerly in practice in Greymouth wifji Dr Morice, arrived from Christchurch hist night, and proceeded on to Kumara, where be relieves Dr Morkane, who goes on a holiday. Dr Kinder has just lately returned from the Old Country.

On the occasion of bis visit to the West Coast at the end of the present month, the Hon. -1. A. Millar will he accompanied by Mr T. Ronayne (General Manager of the New Zealand Railways). When at Hokitika, deputations will wait on the Minister, urging the construction of the railway as far as Waitaha in South Westland. '
