THE WRECK OF THE CLANRANALD VERY LITTLE NEW. ADELAIDE, February 2. The white members of the crew are reticent as to the actual cause of the disaster. From what can be learned ,however, it appears something must have occurred aboard the Clauranald. The hypothesis is that tho ship struck the Marion reef which lies to the south-east of Troubridgo Hill. Attempts to obtain anything definite proved futile. "There is too much at stake," was the reply of the first officer, when pressed tor information.

The victims of the Clauranald wreck wore buried at Edithburg. Tho Lascars were buried in a large trench 25ft long, and the whites in a smaller trench.

Some complaints are made that assistance was not promptly sent. News that an unknown vessel was in distress was received on Sunday night, but assistance was net sent till MoridnV morning.
