Last night a mee ing of the building contractors and employers of carpenters and joiners was held to consider what steps shall be taken in view of the recent action of a s;ction cf employees in demanding a higher rate of pay than p-ovided in the award of the Arbitration Court. .Resolutions were adopted plpdging tho meeting to adhere to nrnimum rate of 1/4 per hour fixed by Court. The meeting also appointed a depiriitbn to wait on the Premier and inform him of the facts and protest against tho Government employees being permitted to attack the Arbitration Court. A Church Appointment. Wellington, Jan, 31. The Rev. W. C. Waters Vicar at St. Peter's has been offered by King 3<ldward the living of Shernbourne, Sindringbam, but has cabled a reply asking permission to declice.
