BOER V ZULU.
[PER PRESS ASSOCIATON. —COPYRIGHT.] Received this day at 8 6 a m. London, Jan. 30. In October last a commission was appointed to inquire into the Boer allegations that the British magistrate at Port Shepstone, Natal, had incited the Zulus to massacre the inmates of the Boer laager at Holkrantz. In the previous May an official report of the commission exonerated the Zulus and the magistrate. It is stated that General Botha burnt
and raided Chief Sekobos Kraals. John Potgnieter, one of the Boer leaders, burnt three natives alive and sent a message to Sekobobo saying the Boers had driven the Zulus wives and children to Vryheid; had taken their cattle; stigmatising the Zulus as only fowl lice, and challenging them to retake the cattle. The Zulus accepted the challenge and and attacked Potgnieter's force. Fifty-six Boers were killed and the cattle recaptured. Fifty-two Zulus were killed and fortyeight wounded.
