Mr Thomas Pringle, of the Tourist Department, left Hokitika this morning after a brief visit to the district. He, however, intends to return in three weeks time to do the West Coast thoroughly. During his present \isit the West Coast Times) Mr Pringle has been as far south as the Copeland rive/, and he has been amazed and delighted with the beauty of our scenery. When he returns it is his intention to gojthrough the Haast Pass into Wanaka and on to Wakatipu, taking numerous photos on his travels. Mr 1 , Pringle has travelled Europe and kno'ws'j Switzerland well. He has exploredthe beauties of Japan and the Bast and he says he has seen nothing to surpass the scenery on the West Coast. It is understood that the Fedderson dredge got into solid ground on Friday last. Since the commencement of operation's the dredge has been trea:ing ground previously worked by the Cock sparrow dredge, and picked up buckets and other ironwork lost by that Company. The return bo far has about paid expenses and now that maidisn ground has been reached eome substantial returns may be expec ted.
