THE ENGLISH CRICKETERS
The Nelson Hatch. England 5 Wickets for 124. (PHR PBESS ASSOCIATION.) Nelson, This Day. The weather is dull for the Nelson match against Lord Hawke's team. There is a good attendance of spectators. The local team are batting with eighteen men and fielding with fifteen. The rain last week hid a disparaging effect on the wicket, which is in a sodden condition and unfavorable to batsmen. Nelson won the toss, and sent the Englishmen to the wickets. Kerr and Knapp opened the bowling to Leatkam and Williams. These batsmen were soon out for 4. Whatman and Taylor, however, made a stand, and severely punished the bowliDg, the former eventually being caught and bowled by Kinzatt. Stanning came next, and was caught and bowled in the last ball of same over by Kinzett. Johnston came next and had a life. Taylor after splendid play was beautifully caught in out field by Chrisholm.
