GREYMOUTH JOCKEY CLUB.
The monthly meeting of the Greymouth Jockey Club was held at the club room, Albion Hotel, last night. Present—Messrs M'Kay (chairman), Walton, Doogan, M'Carthy, Gieseking, Yarrall, Ponsonby, Claughesy, Petrie. The March programme, providing fourteen races with prize money of £650, was brought up and adopted, the two principal events being £l2O and £IOO, two £SO, five £4O, one £3O and four £25. Trainers' licenses were applied for by T. Twomey and J. Woods and granted. The Reafton programme, fourteen events added money £4GS was brought down and approved of. Messrs John Clifford and John Straiken were electel members. The following applications for starter were received ; R. W. T. M'Neil, Totara Flat. Charles Watson, Omoto. F. A. Archer, Reefton. James Ruthven, Dobson. C. C. Bell, Moana. H. Knight, Cobden. F. L. Kirwin, Greymouth. John Ritchy, Kumira. After a good deal of discussion the final appointment fell upon Mr Archer by ballot and he was then appointed.
