BRUNNER SCHOOL EXCURSION.

A m?o;ing of the joint school excursion commit 1 ea was held in the Couuc'l Oh amben Brunnir, on Thursday evening. Present:—Messrs Meyers .(chair) W. Baxter .JKokiri) James Baxter (S.illwator Irvine an t Hill (Dobson) Cosgrove and McDonald (Convent) Watson, Taylor, Mylroi ( faylorvillo). The Secrerary reported that the u;uai routine proceedings in reference to setting the matter under wing, and that owing to last year’s discussion the various schools (except Stillwater) had taken a vote as to the best place to hold the excursion when the following were the number of votes receivedln favour of Hokitika 118, Totara Flat 23, Moana 6. Itj was proposed by Mr James Baxter and seconded by Mr James Irvine thai in conform y with the wis iof the mijority, the excursion be hell at Hokitika on Saturday,7th February. Carried. The train will depart at the same lima as last year. Tho Secretary stated that lia hal written to tho Railway Depa tine t in reference to trains but so far no reply had been received. It was resolved that the Mayor of Hokitika be written to asking the use of Cass Square and tho Secretary of the School Committee a dung it he will kindly arrange in reference! to making tea, etc same as last year. Tho following resolu ioos were passed : “That tho Mayor of Brunner be asked to proclaim Saturday 7th February a public holiday. “That the mine manager, Mr A’liscn, bo asked to allow a canvas of the mine to be made the committee. “That tho Band he asked to attend and ealiven the proceedings with music. “That the lists be handed in on Thursday 1 ,291 h inst so that the committee can see their financial position and arrange as to tho amount that will be at their disposal for purchasing fruit, toys, etc. “That the children be informed that on arrival on ground that tea will be handed round. At half past one o'clock sports, e!c, would commence, and at three o'clock fruit would bo distributed, and that Messrs R. Taylor, J. Watson, Hill, Newlands, Noble, and Balemi arrange as to distributing, and that Messrs McDon aid, Cosgrove, Mylroi, Moyers, James and Wilbam Baxter be a sports corami’tee. “The next meeting of committee to" be held on 29th inst.”
