NOTES FROM REEFTON.
(our own correspondent.) Dr Whitton left by coach this morning for New Plymouth via Nelson, a large number of friends being present io wish the worthy doctor “God Speed,” Tie following is the text of the testimonial presented by the Hospital Trustees : To Thomas Bain Whitton, Esq., M. D. Reefton, New Zealand. Dear Sir, —In severing your connection with the Reefton Hospital, after having filled the importaut position of Medical Officer for a period of eighteen years, we cannot allow your association with that Institution to terminate, without expressing our entire satisfacion for the manner in which you have discharged the many onerous duties devolving upon you during your lengthened connection with it. The kindly sympathy and consideration that you have always manifested in administering your professional skill, h ive been marked by expressions of the utmost gratitude and laudation in one unanimous voice, by the numerous inmates, who from time to time have sought the assistance and benefits of the Institution. In taking your departure from amongst us, we are prompted to offer these few words, not only in recognition of the valuable services rendered by you to the community in your capacity as a medical man, but also to express our warmest appreciation of your many sterling qualities as a true friend and worthy citizen, and to acknowledge the generous sympathy you have always exercised, whenever an appeal has been .made to you, of those needing assistance in the hour of trouble or depressed circumstances. We therefore earnestly hope that every success may attend you in the new sphere of your professional occupation and that the future lives of yourself and your estimable wife and children may be surrounded with every happiness and prosperity.
