COLONIAL GOVERNORS.
(per press association—copyright.) London, Jan 23. Speaking at the Cjlomal Club, Mr Ltfrov, tho Westralian Agent-General, said that it was particularly appropriate that a distinguished sai'or should repre sent the King as Governor of Westralia. Governors were the only visible link of tha States in connection wi.h the Motherland, and he trusted that it would never cease to exist. A Governor should always be directly appointed by the Imperial Government. Admiral Lsdford in reply said that ho aecqrcd the responsibility of the Governorship with misgivings which wore much, 'lessened by 'the cordial message from Westra'ia. There was no higher reward for ollieers than a Governorship. Be would do his best and show his Sovereign that his confidence was not misplaced.
