NEWS FROM ROSS.
(west coast times) Some 30 or 40 names are down for work on the railway and an officer of the Public Works Department is expected to arrive here on Monday to sot the men to work. As a result of the Premier’s visit the Lands Department is putting in hand immediately the construction of the much needed footbridge over -the lower crossing of Donneley’s creek, the want of which had been long felt by pedestrians, cyclists and resident of the locality. This week’s dredging returns show a tight race between our two local dredges, the honours this time falling to the Prince of Wales Co. The return frem the Kohinoor Co is very satisfactory, as it is considered that the old Kohinoor lead has been crossed, and the gold being now obtained points to a new and hitherto unsuspected auriferous deposit.
