To-day was perfect weather for sport, and,, as a consequence, the attendance in Victoria Park was very large, the number at 230 being 2,500. The grand stand was a perfect picture, all the youth and beauty, arrayed in holiday attire, being there enjoying the “outing, the gathering and the excellent sport provided. To-day it is impossible to give a detailed account, but that will be forthwithcoming. The sport so far has been excellent, the track being in magnificent order. Subjoined so far are the results ; 1. TRIAL HANDICAP (saddle) of 25 sovs, second horse to receive 5 sovs from the stake. Screw Jack 1 Lynbiook 2 Gunner 3 Won easily. Two others started. Div, £2 3s. Time, smins 44secs. 2. WESTLAND HANDICAP (harness) of 25 sovs ; second horse to receive 5 sovs from the stake. Open to residents in the Counties of Buller, Inangahua, Westland and Grey ; including West Coast Boroughs. Horses to have been in one of the said counties or boroughs at least three months prior to the race. Minnie May 1 Duckling 2 Unknown 3 Won by a head after a splendid race. Three others started. Time, 5 mins 59 secs. Dividends, Minnie May jj-3 19s ; Duckling £1 ss. 3. MIDLAND HANDICAP, (saddle) of 23 sovs ; second horse to receive 6 sovs from the stake. Doll 1 Silvercliffe 2 Regent 3 Nine started. Time, 2 rains 50 secs. Divs, Doll £2 7s ; Silvercliffe 18s;
