Westport Trotting Races.—Second Day. Westport, December 27.
The Westport Trotting Club's summer meeting had ideal weather for the second day's racing, and there was a large attendance. £3,644 was put through the machine, as compared with £2,371 last year. In the Tradesman's Handicap, in which a protest had been lodged against Pilot, the race was ordered to be run over again, and Pilot was again the winner, with Index second. The other results are:—
Electric Handicap—lndex 1, Lynbrook 2. Eight others started. Div, £9 Bs. Granity Handicap—Leda 1, Index 2. Time, 5 41. Divs, £1 16s and 4s.
Buller Handicap—Fancy Free 1, Pilot 2. Time, 5 45. Divs, £2 17s and £1 6s. Selling Trot-Clara 1, Nellie 2. Time, 5 10. Div, £3 18s. Ladies Bracelet —Pilot 1, Index 2. Eight others ran. Time, 534 ? Divs, £4 and £2 4s.
Eecovery—Shannon 1, Daystar 2, Time, 4 32. Divs, £llßs and lis.
The Reefton Races.—Second Day.
Reefton, Dec 27.
The second day's racing of the Reefton Jockey Club's Summer meeting was beautifully fine, but somewhat sultry. The attendance was good, there being about 2,500 people present. The racing was of a very good order, there being some excellent finishes. The sum of £3,486 passed through the machine for the day, making a grand total of .£6,427 for the two days. This meeting was a record in every respect. The receipts for the grandstand, gate, and totalisator were a great advance on former years. The results are :
County— 8 10,1; Petroline 7 13, 2; Bealey 80, 3. Three others ran. Won easily by half a length. Time, 118 2-5. Divs, £2 4s and £ll6s.
Flying Hack—Crusader 7 7,1; Lepanto 6 12, 2; Bold 8 12, 3. Won by a length. Time, 118 1-5. Divs, £5 Is and £2 9s.
Midsummer Handicap— Dundas 8 11, 1, Heiress 84, 2, Sanfoin 7 11, 3. Hastings and Will-o'-the Wisp also ran, After a fine race Dundas secured the verdict by half a lengh. Time 158 2-5. Divs £2 7s and £1 2s.
Hurdles—Nayborn 10 12, 1, The Master 1010, 2. Tukurangi also ran. The Master fell on coming to the first hurdle, whilst Tukurangi was seen to run off the course after jumping the second fence leaving Nayborn to win in a hollow manner. Time 46. Div £2 7?.
Junction Hack—Dialogue 7 0,1, Nance O'Neill 93, 2, National 70, 3. Won easily. Time 133 4-5. Div £2 l4s Boatman's—Coaa Lynn 8 12,1, Oyster 79, 2, Sedgebrook 813, 3. Artillery Maid also ran. Won after a fine race by a short neck. Div £l l7s. Farewell—The Master 82, 1, Haria 74, 2, Lady Dundas 79, 3, Won on *.he post after a great race by a np«V i'ime, 132 2-5. Divs £1 lis writ £4 2,
