CRICKET.
Grey y. Rimu.
P This matoh was played on the Park yesterday with ideal cricketing weather and a really good wicket in Kimu's first innings. The only two hatsmen to reach anything of a score was E. Hyndman with 9 and 0. Knowles and I. Boyd with 8 and 13. Whitehorn put in some good howling, but had very bad luck Adams getting the bulk of the wickets, the Eimu innings closing for 51. The Grey commenced their innings with very careful play, as the bowling was dead on and a capital length, in fact, towards the close of their innings Houston was perfectly unplayable. Adams played a patient innings for 18, and Boyes was batting well, but the remaining men did not give him a show and he carried only his bat for 7. If this batsman bad been put in earlier I fancy the Gr»y score would have been considerably larger, their innings closing for 50 one behind their opponents. In the Eimu's second attempt their batsmen seemed to be more at home with the bowling at the commencement of their innings, Knowles getting 27 with fair cricket and E. Hyndman with 17, the only other batsman to trouble the scores was T. Wells with 8 (not out). Frickor and Knell were the successful bowlers in this innings, the score being 74. The Grey second attempt did not commence to well 3 wickets falling very quickly, Adams, being the only one to keep up his stump ;till he was joined by Boyce who played a nice innings for 13. Pochin, the Grey Captain, now joined Adams and commenced at once to play a forcing game, playing really good cricket but putting on the wood to any loose, and carrying out his bat for 41. Adams (not out) 19 ; the Grey winning by 7 wickets. The Grey fielding was very fair, but the|Bimu Club must certainly carry off the palm for fielding, it being the best seen on the Park for some years. I consider there are four men in the Eimu team that ought to be picked for the county matoh, whioh takes place in Jannary next. Eimu Ist innings—J. Knowles 0, E, Hyndham 9, C. Knowles 8, Irwin 3, Houston 3, S. Knowles 1, Boyd 18, S. Hyndman 4, J. Wells 0, T. Wells 6, Nancehvil (not out) 2, extras 2. Total 51. Grey Ist innings—Bundle 5, Adams 18, Whitehorn 8, Pochin 1, Boyes (not out) 7, Thompson 4, Bennington 0, Fricker 0, Chalk 0, Moore 2, Knell 1, extras 4. Total 50. Eimu 2nd innings—J. Knowles 27, E. Hyndman 17, 0. Knowles 1, J. Irwin 4, Houston 4, 8. Knowles 4, Boyd 0, 8. Hyndham 4, J, Wells (not out) 8, T. Wells 0, Nancehvil 4, extras 1. Total 74. Grey 2nd innings—Adams (not out) 19, Whitehorn 0, Boyes 13, Pochin (not out) 41, Thompson 1, Fitmington 1, extras 2. Total for 4 wickets 77.
