In March last there were sixty tinware factories in the colony, employing altogether 337 hands. Thirteen of the foctories, employing ninety nine hands, were in Wei ingion provincial district. Of a total of £23,107 paid in wages during 1900 £8483 was disbursed in Wellington district. The material used in 1900 was valued at £52,553 and the manufactures and repairs at £98,587.
