THE KUMARA SPORTS.

The Kumara sports came off on the racecourse yesterday. As the day was gloriously fine, a very, large—in fact a record crowd for sports—assembled. The result was a great success, for outreaching the highest hopes of the committee. The only complaint was the lack of sufficient police to control the rowdy element. Mr Cassen had his hands more than full. Tho gates realised TSO. The following are tho results: — Maidc-n : F. J. Bond and C. Richard* son.
Local Hack—Rebel and De Wet,
Point Handicap—o. Richardson 8 points, F. J. Bond G and C. Hoglund 6.
Youth’s Race— J. Woods and S. Gage. Upright Chop—J. Moore and J. J. Morris.
880 yards—J. Mcllroy and C. Mathews.
Sawing Han heap—Hobbs and Mate 1, Harper and Mate, Moore and Mate, Schroeder and Mate, all lied for second place. This was owing to tho close finish,* probably tho most interesting and exciting event of tho day. Trot—William and Boh, Champion Chop —W. Stuart 1, H. Hearn 2. Time, smiu 20secs. Final Hack —Barbara and Do Wet,
Hop, Step, and Jump—D. Power 39ft 4in, W. Scott 88ft Jin,
