GREYMOUTH SWIMMING CLUB.
For once in three years, the Grey* mouth Swimming Club were accorded fine weather for their annual contests, and as a result had a large attendance and excellent exhibition. The following are the results :
Maiden Kace, 100 yards—Harper 1, M'Donnell 2, Kyle 3. Won easily, Time, 1 37.
Boys' Race, 50 yds—Gittoes 1, Cocks 2, Kyle 3. Won by a yard. Time, 1 2 3-5.
Neafsst Header—Calvert 1, Hamilton 2, Lord 3. West Coast Championship, 220 yds— Hamilton 1, Oliver 2, Truscott 3. W. Cocks also swam. Won somewhat easily. Time, 3 9 1-5.
School Boys' Handicap, 50 yds—White 1, Campbell 2. White luckily touched the rope barely a second sooner than his opponent. Time, 18. Christmas Handicap, 100 yds—Hamilton (scr) 1, Williams (7 sees) 2, Cocks (16 sees) 3. Time, 1 min 12 4-5 sees, A splendid finish.
Breast Stroke Handicap, 220 yds— Mabinl.
Model Yacht Eace—Won by Mr C. P. Broad's yacht after an interesting race.
President's Handicap, 180 yds—Williams 1; Hamilton 2. Won after a capital race by a bare touch. Messrs Calvert and Hamilton gave a long dive exhibition from the Cobden Bridge, and for which both received an ovation from the spectators.
