Tbo Premier of Victoria has received the following message from Mr J. W. Rail, who is acting as honorary agent for Victoria at Cape Town: —." There is no possible chance f >r newcomers to got to the Transvaal now, and I am snro this will bo the case for many months to come." Regulations to bring the public school Teachers Salaries Act into force on the Ist of January, and also to revise the regalations under the Manual and Technical Instructions Act have been approved of by the Cabinet. For continuation of news see fourth page DISTRICT ORDER. ACCEPTED MEN for the Eighth Contingent from Hokitika aud Greymouth will leave by the Mapourika to-morrow.
