A MANY PREMIERED COLONY.

We;tralia is evidently determined to establish a record. Mr Morgans having been compelled to resign, the Premiership of that colony has changed hands for the fifth lose this year. For the past ten years Sir John Forrest has held the reins of office, but since he resigned to enter the Federal Ministry, the Western State has seen the collapse of several leaders. Mr Leake, who was defeated by two votes a few weeks ago, on a no-confidence motion by the Pieei-e-Morgans party, declares that he still has the country with him, but has so far sought a dissolution in vain. Not one member of the Ministry formed by Mr Morgans had ever been in office-before, and three were defeated on seeking reelection in accordance with the constitutional practice of the colony. The position, as disclosed by the cables, which state that a motion by Mr Morgans was defeated on the casting vote of the Speaker, is evidently one of “no truce.” Compromise has been declared quite out of the question, and apparently every inch of ground is to bo fought. It looks, however, as if Mr Leake is likely to have the opportunity of proving the truth of his assertion that the country is with him.
