Charges of irson. Wellington, Dec 28,
Mrs Alice Brown, the burning of whose shop formed the subject of an enquiry last week, weS to-day am sted on a charg of arson.
Gear Meat Company. At the annual meeting of the Qea* Company this evening the chairman said that while the company was willing and desirious to freeze at the lowest curren rates on the growers’ behalf, little stocl> has come forward under this head, am. practically everything had to be pur chased. A dividend of 6* per cent wa.*declared. Bad Weather. The weather is very unpromising for the holidays. Since last night showert have been frequent and it is miserably cold, with a strong southerly wind blowing.
