OTAGO GOLD DREDGING.
(SPECIAL to “ STAB.”)
Dunedin, December 20.
The directors of the Hartley and Kiley Company have decided to suspend operations and close the dredge down till a more favorable river obtains. The intention now is to put the machinery in thorough working order, and then drop down about 150 yards on to some good maiden ground, where good results are anticipated. The dredge will not resume wo rk till the beginning of February, and crew will be paid off in the n)|wtiine.
The Dunedin Stock Exchange close from Saturday next for a fortnight. Most of the members intend taking advantage of the holidays to pay visits to different parts of the goldfields, and so refresh their impressions of the practical side of the dredging business from actual observations.
