BLACKBALL NOTES.
(ous OWN CORRESPONDENT.)
Last Saturday evening at Northcote s entertainment the need of a suitable hall was fully demonstrated. The schoolroom was altogether inadequate for the requirements, and the proprietors were obuged.to refuse admittance to about 80 people. So .as not to cause disappointment the entertainment was repeated Monday night. Mount Paparoa Gold Mining Company (Croesus) is unfortunate in losing the services of its capable mine manager, Mr James Carroll, who has been appointed manager to a company working near Collingwood. Mr Carroll has held the position of manager at Paparoa for close on two years, and has put in some very hard work for the company. If the reef lives at the deeper level in this mine, it should be struct within a day or so, for the low level tunnel has been now driven a distance of 760 feet.
