Murder of a Farmer.

Lard Brassey suggests that a scheme providing for a naval reserve of a hundred thousand men at a cost of £2,000,000 and advocates a hundred school ships for training apprentices and subsidising shipowners to train officers and serve as a naval reserve.

A conference of leaders of capital and labor at New York elected a committee with Senator Mark Hanna chairman to try and harmonise interests and avert strikes and resort to arbitration when both sides are agreeable.
