HOKITIKA RIVER DREDGING COMPANY.
The second annual meeting of shareholders in the above Company, will be held at Christchurch on Monday next. The following is the report to bo presented : —The Directors regret the long delay caused by difficulties associated with the completion of the various contracts, which prevented ge ting the dredge to work until the end of last September. Since that time she has been continuously at work, and although not yet on original wash, has regularly paid expenses, and is building up a working capital. The increased cost of all classes of work connected with the dredging industry, and especially on such a dredge as ours, necessitated the Directors having to borrow on debentures the sum of JEIBBO, for a term of one year, or terminable in six months, should the Company be in funds and we are in hopes that there will be no necessity to further increase the debt. The Directors congratulate sharehollcrs on possessing one of the most efficient dredges yet turned out in the colony, and so far as can bo judged, quite equal to the requirements of the claim.
