WAREATEA SALTING CASE.
(SPECIAL to “ STAB.”) Dunedin, This Day, At a meeting of shareholders of the Wareatea (West Coast) Gold Dredging Coy, at Dunedin last night, correspondence was read to the effect that the claim would not pay for working and the opinion of the writers was that it had been sglted,
The Chairman, Mr Ross, said that in reference to sheeting home the charge of *’ salting ” to the right man, inquiries had been kept going but there was nothing definite yet. He understood that the vendors had been called upon to say why the dim had not come up to expectations.
A engthy discussion took place as to the best means of bringing the guilty parties to justice, and at the conclusion of which it was resolved that the question of liquidation be adjourned for four weeks, and also that a commitsc bo appointed and authorised to canvass shareholders with a view of obtaining subscriptions for the purpose of instituting proceedings against the alleged salters of the claim, the subscriptions to bo lodged to a trust account.
It was mentioned incidentally that several fairly largo sums had been promised with this object.
