GOLD DREDGING.

Greenstone Three Mile dredge has got n fair start and given immunity from flood until properly opened out, say Monday a return should be in by the end of week.

Greenstone Creek dredge is said to be on bettor gold than heretofore. This report has gone out so often that one can be forgiven if he is somewhat >eeptcial this time. [However, the ground has deepened so"as to put the dredge to its utmost capacity to bottom it. Gold is not usually found in dips in creek beds, but on the principle that there is an exception to every rule this might prove ao.

Greenstone Junction has, so far, had another splendid week’s dredging, scarcely having experienced a single.delay other than those incidental to change of shifts As the dredge is lifting over half the length of the paddock from six to nine feet of worthless overburden the ground or wash proper must be rich. This week should snow quite as satisfactory a return as last.

It is reported that farther prospecting of the Wareatea and Fairdown claims has given barren results. Our Kumara correspondent learns that the formal opening of the StaffordWaimea Hydraulic Company's claim has been adjourned until to-day, owing to a defect in the head-race which it is expected will be remedied by that date. The shareholders in the Grey River Consolidated Company will be called on to consider the financial position of the company, and adopt a scheme for raising the additional capital required to pay its liabilities, overhaul the dredge, and leave a substantial balance in hand, with which to properly open out the company’s upper claim* The directors recommend the proposal for the issue of debentures.
