AYLMER LEAD DREDGING COMPANY.

The annual meeting of shareholders in the above company was held at Dunedin on Monday.

The report which was adopted was as follows :—'The directors report having decided to have the reports published in the prospectus verified, and for that purpose made arrangements with Mr J. P. Smith, a well known mining expert, to prospect the claim by boring and report fully upon its value and extent. This was done in April. The report pointed out that a considerable area of the claim had been worked previously by alluvial mining. Your directors therefore decided that unless an additional area of the adjoining claim could be obtained it would not be advisable to go on, and made arrangements with the engineer to delay the completion of the contracts. The local director iMr J. D. Lynch) has obtained all possible information re prospect of getting an adjoining area situated to the south of the present claim. Considerable delay has been experienced, owing to this area being held in the name of another party; but Mr Lynch, on the Bth inst., writes that steps are now being taken for protection of the company's present hold ing, to apply for additional ground, and to abandon portion of the present claim. Owing to these causes your directors have not deemed it necessary to strike any calls since July .last, but have applied to shareholders in arrear to p*y up promptly.
