Two motions in respect to the Colonial Bank oame before Judge Williams this morning. The first application was, that the bond given by Messrs W. B. Vigors and W. L. Simpson be delivered up and cancelled now that they are superseded as liquidator by the new Companies Act, the object being that part of the premium may be received back. The second montion was for the payment of fifteen guineas and clerical expanses to Mr Graham tho official liquidator. Mr W. C. MacGregor appearing on behalf of the shareholders took the preliminary objection that the Companies Act of 1901 did not apply to the Bank but His Honor ruled otherwise- Both applications wore grauted. Banquet to the Hon. Mr Duncan. The twice postponed banquet at Oamaru to the Minister of Lands tendered by his constituents has been definitely fixed for the 19th inst.

The Minister of Railways will represent the Government. "Tote" Betting. Peter Grant, of Barnet and Grant, has taken preliminary step 3 for action against the Police for alleged wrongful seizure and detention of his books. Tho seizure was made, in connection with the charges of "tote" betting, which had been brought against Grant.
