The Natal Border Mounted forces have been told to hold themselves in readiness for ac iive service. The Boers had a trail grinding grain at Pilgtim's Best until after a British seout after remaining concealed for three days succeedeJ in laying a mine and exploding tho mill. Many burghers are asking the British Government for employment after the war. The Powers replied in the negative to Holland's confidential enquiry if they would support a scheme to transfer Boer women and children in concentration camp] to Holland. Beblin, December 9. Two hundred and ten petitions totalling nearly one hundred and sixty-seven thousand signatures were presented to Beicbstag concerning the South African War, and twenty protesting against Chamberlain's utterances which recently gave rise to so much resentment in Germany. New Yobk, December 9. Eighty thousand horses and mules are leaving New Orleans for South Africa. Pabis, December 9. L-eyds returned to Paris. The pro-Boer agitation is being renewed in France. Auckland, Dec 10. Twenty two troopers from the Fifth and Sixth Contingents under the command of Captain Drury and Nurse Cross (Dunedin) returned by the Elingamite. With the exception of Beid of Dunedin and Conn of Auckland, who are time expired men, the draft are all invalided. Some of the Southern men go on by the Elingamite to-day.
