Monday, December 9th.

STONE THROWING.

A. and J. Jacobs and J. Blewman were charged with throwing stones to the damage of property. Mr Hannan for defendants. J. McCormick said ho had been annoyed by the defendants throwing stones from the railway. The whole of the iron roof on the railway side is loose and windows broken. On November 20ih some one threw stones for about halt an hour. In reply to Mr Joyce witness said the Jacobs’s lived a good distance away. One of the Jacobs’s was in the hut when the stones were thrown four night’s previously.

J. Hillar saw defendants throwing stones on McCormack’s place. When he went to them they all ran. By Mr Joyce—Ho had had several rows with the Jacobs’s. Those young fellows were always insulting him.

Constable Jones said the stones wore all over the roof, and the windows and sashes smshed in. The damage would be about £2, McCormick had only been there for about four months.

For the defence, Mr Joyce called James Blewman, who remembered hearing stones being thrown on McCormick’s house. He was on his own verandah at the time.

Some further evidence was given. The Magistrate held the case proven and indicted a fine of 30/-.
