At the swimming carnival in the domain bathe, Read covered a thousand yards in 13 min 58£sec, and Lane 100 yards in 1 minute and four-fifths of a second. The latter is an Australasian, and the former the world’s accepted record.
W ELLINGTON, Dec 9.
The Amateur Athletic Club have selected the following to represent it at the Championship meeting at Auckland : L. B. Webster, 100, 250, and 440yds ; W. H. Pollock, 440 and bBO yds ; A. S. Henderson, 440 yds hurdles and half mile flat; J. W. Davis one and three mile runs.
“Douglas Gordons’’ well known race horse Boreas died at Porirua yesterday of pleurisy and pneumonia.
