THE RAILWAY ACCIDENT INQUEST.
(per press association)
Invercargill, December 6. The inquest on Frank Thomas, platelayer, killed on Monday night in collision with a railway tricyc’e and a special train was resumed to-day. The only point of interest was that the driver said the headlight was burning when he got to Edendale, beyond the scene of the accident; that the night was misty ; that the men on the trolly should carry a red light, but he saw none. Witness said that' Fraser, the man injured, remarked in his presence that he saw a red light on ton of the bank five miles off, and again on rounding a curve, but not afterwards. The light could not be lit while the train was running. ft-, Ferguson, fireman, said that he examined the head light at Edendale, and ho took the glass out because it was srn Iced, but that would not have interfered with the light. Farris, S.M. at Edendale, deposed that he heard Fraser when the doctor was attending him say that there was no head -light, or he did not see it. Fraser appeared to be perfectly sober. The inquest was adjourned to next Thursday. 1 (
