The General Committee of the National Liberal Federation, after much diversity of opinion, resolved that negotiations for peace ought to be begun and entrusted to a special commission. It passed a vote of confidence in Bannerman.
The Chronicle says that llu lederation programme points to another Majuba settlement. The chairman's statement that all parties accepted annexation was greeted with contradiction and coucter cheers.
Charles Ilobhouse, the member for East Bristol, repudiates the many statements of Miss Hobhouse's report, and regrets she unverified them.
