The first innings for South Australia closed for 119 runs. At the close of the innings a dispute arose on the question of follow on. Gregory held the option with him to bat or allow South Australia to follow on. A wire was sent to the Cricket Council who replied that it was not a matter for option. The opposing captain, Gregory, accepted the position and took the field again.

The South Australians in their second essay made 221. Hill, 40; Reedman, 45; Kirkwood, 46; M'Kenzie, 31, were the principal soorers. Hopkins took 3 wickets for 36 ; Trumper, 2 for 23 ; M'Beth, 4 for 82; Howell, 1 for 70.

New South Wales won by an innings and 98 runs.

England v. Northern District.

Sydney, December 4,

In the cricket match England v. the Northern District, played [at Glen Innes, the Englishmen with seven wickets down for 309 declared the innings closed— Hayward 100, Gunn 97. Glen Innes in the second innings made 79. The Englishman won by an innings and 79 runs.
