NEW PLYMOUTH BAND CONTEST.
(pes press association.) New Plymouth, December 1. The forthcoming brass band contest to be held here next year promises to be a gteit success. Nineteen bands have nominated, and sixteen entries have been received, which constituce a record for New Zealand, and the other three (Oamaru, Nelson and Westport City) entries may be to hand by the incoming mail. The bands en.ered are—Granity Creek, Deniston, Thames Naval?, Waihi Brass, Euahine Battalion, Masterton, Municipal, Palmerston North, Petone Brass, Wellington Garrison, Wanganui Garrison, Dunedin Navals, North East Valley (Dunedin), Hauraki Bras 3 (Thames), Kaikorai, Gisbome, and Taraaaki. Already considerable interest is manifested in the contest throughout the whole district, and with the influx of visitors from other parts of the colony a record gathering may be expeated during contest week.
