FATAL ACCIDENT.
One of those unfortunate accidents in connection with gold mining occurred at Camerons in the early part of this week. It appears that John Dick, who is a native of Scotland and about 70 years of age, resided in a hut about two and a half miles off the Marsden road, and near Cameron's track. The last time he was seen alive was on Sunday evening by a miner named John Anderson. Yesterday, Charles Chesterman, who supplied deceased with stores, noticed that his door was locked and looked as if the placo had not been habited for some clays. Not being able to find Dick he proceeded and reported the matter to J. Anderson. Both went to Dick's claim and commenced to search. Knowing that deceased worked in a tunnel, they went in same to a distance of 2000 feet where they found a fall of earth. At occe they began to romove the debris, and the body was found covered by about three feet of earth. The Police W6re at once communicated with and a Constable was despatched to the scene of the accident.
An inquest is being held at Marsden this morning. The unfortunate fellow's remains will be buried in the Greymouth cemetery to-morrow, leaving Bussell's Hotel at 9 30 a m.
