In the Senate the Kanaka Bill was read a secoqd time on the voices. Symon argued strongly in favor of a color line south of Bundaberg. There must be no Kanaka labor in the middle sugar belt. Kanaka is to remain in the north. It is understood that the Senators who favor extending the Kanaka's term have agreed to an amendment, allowing a five years' term in districts south of the Tropic of Capricorn and ten years north of the Tropio.

In the Assembly the Government had a bloodless victory on Irvines censure motion, which failed to find a seconder. O'Neill moved an amendment that it was absolutely necessary for the reconstruction of the Government to take place at onee.

Tnis was also an unsecondod motion. The amendment was negatived on the voices. The Premier thanked the House for the unanimous expression of confidence. It is understood that Irvine acted without consulting his party.
